RAD Facts is dedicated to spreading awareness of radiation news.
We relay scientific information about radiation, radiation levels in your area, how to keep healthy and the effects on the environment.During the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011 the Fukushima Diichi nuclear power plant was badly damaged by the ensuing tsunami. While the plant had been prepared to withstand earthquakes, the tsunami caused power to go out at the plant. The plant was flooded, which made it difficult for workers to restore power and keep the plant from going into a meltdown. In order to keep the site cool, water was circulated through and then drained from the plant. The radioactive water was sent into the ocean and 300 tons of radioactive water continues to poor into the ocean daily since the incident occurred. How this has affects peoples health and the environment is unfortunately still unfolding.
